Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable…
And it was all that and then some today connecting with today’s guest – although truth be told we could have used a year’s worth of shows and still not covered his phenomenal fifty-year career. A career which has earned him countless awards including Canadian Manager of the Year, ECMA’s for Industry Builder and Industry Person of the Year, and together with his wife Fiona Diamond – the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for their contribution to Canada. Contributions that include landmark productions and nationally-televised specials like Ha!ifax Comedy Festival, multi-media stage performances like DRUM!, and artist management that has included everyone from world-renowned Sharon, Lois & Bram and Rita MacNeil, to rock legend Myles Goodwyn, to comedy greats like Mark Critch and Bette MacDonald.
Since 1971 he has produced and promoted shows around the globe from the Sydney Opera House in Australia to New York’s Broadway. Fair to say he hasn’t stopped his pursuit of delivering world-class entertainment to audiences throughout his entire career – that began with an awesome event right here in Halifax half a century ago and continues to this day with his next BIG show. At the Scotiabank Centre to be exact, on November 20th – the SUPERNOVA CELEBRATION, with a roster that reads like the who’s who of East Coast Artists including Classified, The Trews, Matt Andersen and more.
Indeed, we’ve got a bananas amount of ground to cover so we’ll hit the highlights. We’ll also hear how it all started for him and learn of some truly lovely moments along the way. We’ll also get to First Things First – play a beyond long overdue round of INsights IN 10 and without question play some of the marvellous music he’s promoted over the years. With all the ahead we best get to it – here’s my telephone conversation with the one and only Brookes Diamond.
